I had a dream that I went back to Santa Barbara to show Alex (husband) around isla Vista and where I used to live in college. It was really beautiful. We were on the strip where the waves were super huge. I think we were living at a different house on this strip that I’ve never seen beforez it was beautiful anf right in front of the ocean. and this is where I saw sophia (long time friend) and Bianca (long time friend). Sophia was showing me some of her nice bags I think because she has a really nice job and is rich and I’ve been jealous of that in the past, but I don’t think I was really jealous of in my dream. But the really pretty part was that me and Alex went to walk down to see my old house on Fortuna Road. I showed him the park that I always bring xuxa (my dog who passed now) and I went in front of my house where there was a seat for some reason and the top room where I used live was an open space with a very open window and some girls were talking there. I saw that they saw me so I said “hi. I used to live there” and at first that girl kind of ignored me and I was like that was weird so I sat in the chair but then after they responded and they were like “oh you use live here,” and I was able to kinda climb up this ladder from the outside and look into the room. Where they changed the two bedrooms and got rid of the wall and made it into one big bedroom with three beds and the girls sharing it. And I told them how this used to be two separate rooms. And I showed them on the floor where the walls used to be and how me and Sophia used to share a closet right there . Also how we use to pay only $550 in rent for a single. I told them to enjoy college while they can. the whole dream just felt very nostalgic. I think at one point we went back out to the Del Playa (the strip) and then me and Alex were walking on the beach. the waves look really big for surfing but alex said they arnt bad and they never actually popped with white water they would just go to out feet which was the whole sand/ there was a wall next to us. There were a lot of trucks in the ocean/boats that were delivering things. It was very interesting to see, there is a bunch of new play grounds, parks, and buildings i would point out. We were also gonna order free birds (best mexican food ) or other food or maybe rent a surfboard. But the waves looked really big and beautiful in the distance and it just made me miss college made me miss California and I just feel very nostalgic
Dreams of visiting places from your past often tap into feelings of nostalgia and longing. Here is a detailed interpretation of your dream:
Revisiting Isla Vista and Santa Barbara: Returning to a place from your past, especially a significant one like where you attended college, suggests a longing for simpler times or a desire to reconnect with a part of yourself that was alive and thriving during that period. The presence of your husband, Alex, indicates a desire to share this chapter of your life with someone important to you, perhaps to integrate your past and present.
The Ocean and Waves: The ocean is often a symbol of the subconscious mind or emotional depths. The waves in your dream are especially prominent—huge and beautiful—indicating powerful emotions or changes in your life. Although they never crash, suggesting underlying feelings that are acknowledged but not overwhelming you. Alex's calm reaction to the waves might reflect your trust in navigating emotional waters together or feeling supported in your current life situation.
Meeting Friends: Seeing Sophia and Bianca points to the importance of these relationships in your life, even if time or distance has changed them. Sophia showing off her bags without invoking jealousy might imply personal growth—acceptance of where you are in life compared to others, letting go of past insecurities.
Xuxa and the Park: Encountering memories of Xuxa, your late dog, suggests a yearning for comfort and unconditional love that Xuxa provided. This reflects deeper emotional needs and the longing for a time when you felt content and nurtured.
The Changed House on Fortuna Road: Witnessing changes to your old living space (such as the open window, no walls, and shared room) symbolizes how life circumstances and environments transform over time. Telling the new occupants about your experiences suggests an urge to pass on wisdom or preserve memories, preparing others to enjoy their present moments.
Trucks/Boats in the Ocean: The presence of trucks or boats in the ocean delivering goods might reflect how your environment (California, in this case) is developing and changing—an evolution that you keenly observe but are not directly part of anymore.
Order from Freebirds or Rent a Surfboard: This part of the dream shows a balancing act between indulgence in familiar pleasures (comfort food from your past) and engaging with new experiences (renting a surfboard), reflecting your current life choices—appreciating while also moving forward.
Nostalgia: Overwhelming feelings of nostalgia are central to this dream. There's a bittersweet element—fondness for memories coupled with the awareness they belong to the past. The dream encourages cherishing those memories, while acknowledging your current life's journey, appreciating growth and change.
Overall, this dream speaks to revisiting and honoring your past, harmonizing it with your present life, and embracing the emotional growth that comes from life's transitions.
